PAST
I have move to Gebeng, Kuantan since I was in 5 years old. On that time, my father is working as a businessman. Before this, he has his own business which produced “keropok” and after a few years, the business has some problem and doesn’t have to open anymore. But, it doesn’t mean that our life become worse because in my family, my sister also support our daily life. I always find out what is the main thing that influenced my father to join in the business field. But I think it is because the satisfaction that comes to us. When doing something in business, we are going to faces with a lot of challenges, difficulties and sometime happiness. In the process knowing other people, it is not easy as we think. I have been grown up in a business family. Both of my brothers-in-law have their own business. So I have been looking through how they manage it.
I still remember when I’m in form 5, studying in ordinary school, small place, in the middle of the town and a lot of bad students, I never thought that I’m going to have life in a prime university currently. One day I realize that I’m supposed to go out of this and should have a new life. I believe I can go further to develop and explore many things. I can live independently and hates controlled.
Since I’m in standard 6, I love Mathematics and Science. My father always asks me to be a doctor when I’m growing up. Because of my father, I have set up my mind to achieve good result for every subject. But after the UPSR, I got B for Science and A’s for other subject. During my school life, I never get best mark for Science. So, one day I decided to take Mathematics as my main core to continue my carrier. Fortunately, I’m having success to enter the matriculation college to further study. I was offered Accountancy course and have learn new things there. One of that is Business subject. Firstly, I never thought that the subject is very interested to learn. However, I realize that every single thing is related to business. Even Science student, they should take business course in their study to prepare for the future. What it means by that? Someday, everyone will learn about business and how to implement it.
PRESENT
After 2 years studied in University Malaya, I have learned a lot of things. Friends, lecturers, and environment were changed dramatically. When I’m in Matriculation College, lecturers are trying very hard to help students in terms of any problem they have. Life in university is doesn’t same anymore. All have to be handling by ourselves. When I’m in 1st year, I have joined “Hari Terbuka Kolej Tun Syed Zahiruddin”, to open up a stall. Firstly, I thought it was easier but it is not. On the first day, we open until 2.00am. Facing with different people are very tough challenges. So many thing need to be handle at the same time. Through few days, I have learned teamwork is very important when working in an organization. We have to accept everyone opinion or ideas. During that time, I also learned how to adapt with business situation. Linkages are also main factors. We need to have linkages in order to make business easier and faster without any difficulties.
When I’m entered Entrepreneurship class, I always heard En. Khidzir said about capital, opportunity, and business plan. Even we have great business ideas; it doesn’t work without capital to generate it.
Doing the business plan is not easy as we thought. We need to plan such many things; from opportunity, harvesting, financial, critical success factors and others. First, we plan to establish restaurant or stationery shop. Then, one of my team members, Rita Jasmine has suggested establishing an organization of music institution. Named Gamelnia, we start working on it. Try to find information and data about the traditional music has made us more committed to finish the assignment. The business that we are doing is very rare to be found in Malaysia. So, in the process we create it, we have little difficulties with economics behind numbers. Love in Gamelan music made us try to add more value on this. Putting various functions can make Gamelnia success in the future.
As long as we know, the main competitors of traditional music are Istana Budaya, which their organization named Istamusika and ASWARA. Even they are main competitors, we are promised to bring our music differently, which is contemporary music. We are planned to develop the organization around Malaysia and worldwide. We also want to record and release our own album. With RM100, 000 we are going to start our dream.
PUTTING ALL TOGETHER
After one semester learning Entrepreneurship with En. Khidzir, I have learned that Entrepreneur is made, not born. Even the person have zero knowledge about business, they can build the characteristics by learning by themselves. Plan and making business plan is not easy as I thought. It needs patience, effort and important thing is cooperation within organization. 10 years from now, I likely to have my own business. I prefer to open up a restaurant because this type of business is actually gaining extra money. I like to manage my own organization. Even though it is very hard to handle it, I’ll try to challenge myself without giving up. Business is very match with my self. I like to face with different people and situation. When the business becomes stable, I like to open up other branches and known within nationwide. It is not because I earn the money, but it shows that I can face the challenges. And I also believe that opportunity is anywhere.
